Event Description:
As a member of the NY Business School Club (NYBSC) you are invited to join the Chicago Booth Alumni Club of New York City for an event that kicks off the Booth Media Networking event. It examines creative ways to increase the ROIC of Film and TV production. There will be a short presentation from 3 media leaders on their views on media investing and then a Q & A session.
Cost: $40 (includes lunch)

Panelists:
Brunson Green, Producer, "The Help"
Mississippi-native, Brunson Green
received his BA in Economics before exploring the world of filmmaking.
After relocating to Austin, TX Green got his start in the props
department, cleaning guns on the Bill Wittliff produced
western TV series, “Ned Blessing.” In 1996, Green formed Harbinger
Pictures focusing on developing a unique slate with the goal of finding
stories that resonate. He produced the comedic feature FOOL’S GOLD,
which played at Sundance, and THE JOURNEYMAN, distributed
domestically by THINK Film.
Green has also produced numerous
shorts, including “Auto Motives,” starring James Cameron and Robert
Downey, Jr, and the multiaward winning short film, “Chicken Party,”
which marked his first collaboration with writer/director
Tate Taylor and actress Octavia Spencer. Their next, PRETTY UGLY
PEOPLE, played at numerous festivals and was theatrically released by
Osiris Entertainment. THE HELP, their third project together, was
nominated for Four Academy Awards®.
David Oliver, Vice President, Entertainment Division, City National Bank
Mr Oliver is a Vice President in City
National Bank's New York office, where he structures and manages various
types of financing projects for film, television and other
entertainment clients, including major and independent
film and television production studios, film funds and private
investment firms. Prior to City National Bank, he worked at Comerica
Bank in Los Angeles. David has worked to provide financing for numerous
films including the Peter Jackson-produced "District
9," the "Twilight" series of films, the Bruce Willis action picture
"Red," and television programming including the Jim Henson Company's
"Side the Science Kid." He received an MA from Yale University and an
MBA from the UCLA Anderson School of Management
Brandon Lucas, Vice President and GM of Mobile, BET Netowrks
Mr Lucas and his team create
game-changing apps that take live TV viewing to a whole new level. BET’s
106 & Park app was recently recognized as Best App Ever (Android
category – Entertainment) and nominated for a 2012 Webby
Award. Brandon also oversees BET’s mobile web and messaging platforms
and helps monetize these platforms via both premium distribution
partnerships and ad sales. Brandon is a proud Booth alum (’04 IMBA),
where he focused on Accounting, Entrepreneurial Finance
and General Management. He holds an undergrad degree from Harvard
University and currently resides in Los Angeles.
