Making Industry Compete for Your Graduates – The Tale of the Global Supply Chain & Operations Management (GSCOM) Program at the Darla Moore School of Business

The last five years have seen the loss of millions of jobs and a bleak jobs outlook for new college grads across the country.  Can universities turn the tide and actually make industry compete for their graduates?  This talk will showcase how, precisely during these tough times, the Moore School’s Global Supply Chain & Operations Management (GSCOM) program has made leading global employer firms such as 3M, Amazon, Bank of America, BMW, Boeing, Bosch, and Coca Cola compete for the program’s graduates.  How has the GSCOM program defied the odds of recession?  Professor Sanjay Ahire, a lead faculty member of the program, will present the extraordinary journey of the five-year-young program that the GSCOM professors have implemented with support of the school leadership. The talk will highlight the reasons for the program’s exceptional outcomes, and will also dispel many assumptions about the motivation, focus, and the work ethic of college students.
