Beta Alpha Psi

Beta Alpha Psi, the national scholastic and professional accounting fraternity, was founded at the University of Illinois in 1919. In 1965, the Gamma Beta chapter was organized and officially designated at the University of South Carolina. The objectives of Beta Alpha Psi are to promote the study and practice of accounting, to provide opportunities for self-development and association among members and practicing accountants, and to encourage a sense of ethical, social, and public responsibility.  

The emblem of the Beta Alpha Psi fraternity denotes the promise of the accounting profession. The rising sun signifies the profession as one rising even higher among economic activities. The crossed keys symbolize knowledge of accounting as a means of opening the doors of the financial world. The letters Beta, Alpha, and Psi denote scholarship, social responsibility, and practicality, respectively.
