Global Supply Chain and Operations

The Global Supply Chain and Operations Management focus (GSCOM) prepares students with state-of-the-art knowledge and practical applied experiences in the dual competencies of business process improvement and global supply chain management. Aimed at preparing students for careers with global manufacturing, service and consulting organizations, the GSCOM focus consists of courses in:

  • Faculty Expertise

    The faculty in Global Supply Chain and Operations Management are leaders in the field and have extensive consultative experience in various industries. Learn more about Professor Sanjay Ahire, one of fewer than 50 industry professionals in the United States to attain a Master Black Belt in Lean Six Sigma. 

    Lean systems and six-sigma methodologies 
  • Service operations management
  • Strategic sourcing, logistics and distribution
  • Supply chain modeling and optimization.

Students have the opportunity to compete for a position on a consulting team formed to solve a significant business problem through a consulting project. Those projects are executed with multi-national firms that are strategic partners of the Center for Global Supply Chain and Process Management at the Moore School.

Graduate consulting teams work actively to address an existing challenge faced by an actual organization, such as optimizing a transportation network, developing a new manufacturing process, designing a warehouse or one of a myriad of other strategic needs culled from global partner firms such as Cummins, Eaton Corporation, Johnson & Johnson, Michelin, Siemens and Walmart.

Successful student consultants earn an industry-validated lean-six-sigma green-belt certification. Opportunities are also made available for earning the internationally recognized Association for Operations Management certification in Basics of Supply Chain Management and Master Planning.
